Omakase menu, sushi, sashimi, nigiri, oysters and maki selected by chef in Arko, japanese restaurant close to me in Eixample, Barcelona

Oma…what?

Sounds weird, but it’s not. Omakase translates as “I trust you” or “I leave it in your hands” which reflects the absolute trust of clients over their menu choice and that they put themselves in the hands of the chef that prepares their food. This tradition is very respected in Japan and lately it has been gaining popularity around the world.

A little bit of history
The omakase concept originated in Japan in the Edo period, between 1603 and 1868 DC. It seems like some sushi chefs started to prepare it as a method to offer the clients a wide selection of their best and most fresh ingredients, while showing off their culinary skills. Over time, omakase has evolved to include a wide range of dishes, such as sashimi and other traditional Japanese snacks.

A pleasant and relaxed experience
To understand what an omakase meal is, you have to take into account its relaxed character. A typical omakase meal can consist of 10 to 20 different foods, each one is carefully selected and prepared. Whether you are a sushi lover or just want to try something new, this is an experience worth having.
